Introducing the musical trio, The EggMen. This group, based in the Bootheel of Missouri, has gained popularity due to the unique sound resulting from the blended instrumental and vocal talents of three men; Dennis Gurley, Matt Adams, and Dale Friday. They describe themselves as “A group dedicated to melody and harmony.”
Listening to The EggMen, you will hear selected gems from the very best of 60’s and 70’s rock and pop music, as well as original music that feels and sounds like it is straight out of that great era of historical American music. Beatles, Byrds, Donovan, Turtles, Johnny Rivers, CCR, Dylan, Classics IV; and other great groups and artists’ music can be enjoyed at an EggMen performance.
Dennis Gurley has been a professional performing artist, with bands and as a solo performer, for over 40 years, has recorded 5 solo albums and two group albums, one with his group The Gurley Show and one with The EggMen. He plays multiple instruments and is a prolific songwriter. In The EggMen, his flawless acoustic rhythm guitar playing gives the group a smooth, pleasant, and easy listening sound. He has 25 years experience as a recording engineer in his own Alley Trax Recording Studio. As a lead and harmony singer, his voice is recognizable to hundreds of people all over the ArkMoTenn area, and he also plays a mean harmonica!
Matt Adams is a brilliant musician, singer, and writer with over 30 years of performing and recording experience. His lead guitar playing gives The EggMen a way-above-average professional level of sound. He plays a custom built Tele, as well as an electric 12-string on the songs that need that “jingle-jangle” sound. He also plays a vintage reproduction Airline baritone guitar on some occasions. He teaches music at the University Of Tennessee at Martin, TN.
Dale Friday, a performing and recording musician and singer for over 50 years, plays bass, and sings, in The EggMen. If you like the tone and creativity of Paul McCartney, you will like Dale’s bass playing. He even plays an Epiphone Epi Viola bass, patterned after the famed Hoffner used by McCartny. He has owned and operated 2 recording studios, and has his third currently under construction in Blytheville, AR.
The most often-heard statements heard by The EggMen are: “We LOVE your songlist!” This comes from 14 year-olds and 60+ year-olds. “You guy’s harmonies are PERFECT!” The unexpected excellence of the 3-part close harmonies is very pleasing to everyone, and has become the hallmark of The EggMen sound. “You guys sound like a CD or a jukebox!” The EggMen take pride in working hard (practice every Thursday night) to get the arrangements just right, the vocals spot-on, and the overall mix perfect.
Seeing the smiles on the faces of our listeners is why we play. Giving people a 2 or 3 hour escape into the wonderful world of great music is our passion.
